A path smoothing scheme for micro-line tools using cubic B-spline fitting with dominant points

Abstract To obtain higher order continuous tool path, a cubic B-spline curve fitting method is presented in this paper to process the linear path. First, local polynomial with bidirectional scanning scheme proposed determine some initial dominant points. Based on these points, knot vector generated by average method, and constructed. constrain error, Newton’s based error estimation point insertion are modify B-spline. Simulation results prove that our can compress data smooth Compared another existing number of control has decreased 9.43%, machining time 94.45% compared traditional point-to-point (P2P) motion.
